Stay on a real train!
The Santos Express Train Lodge is a genuine train situated on the Santos Beach in Mossel Bay with all cabins facing the sea. With the ocean so close, you can’t really beat its unbelievable position and exquisite views. Early risers can literally roll out of their compartments after a night of steam train dreams and leopard crawl into the waves. An invigorating sea breeze keeps everything cool even on really hot days.
The Santos Express consists of a Restaurant with a cosy pub and a deck with a magnificent view of the bay and distant Outeniqua mountains, as well as 5 sleeper coaches and a guest kitchen.
The Train is literally 30m from the sea, a 5 min. walk from town and supermarkets, and even closer to the harbour and museum complex.
We offer double, single & budget compartments with spectacular sea views. Hot, clean showers. Great seafood, traditional meals, lamb on the spit, regular braai,s (BBQ). Cosy bar, stunning view, nice atmosphere.

Guests sleep in a first class compartment or coupè similar to the Trans Karoo.
We have 5 coaches, of which 4 are identical, with 5 compartments (2-4 sleeper), 2 coupe’s (1-2 sleeper), 2 toilets and 1 shower. The 5th coach is divided into a 16 bed Dorm with self-catering kitchen and the Caboose - an on-suite room with balcony.
Double and single rates include a free continental breakfast. We can accommodate a max of 114 pax and have special STO rates for groups of 30 pax and more (Low season). Seasonal rates apply.
Our staff is on the ball and can help with all travel and adventure arrangements such as shark cage diving, boat-based whale watching, sky diving, game drives, quad biking, deep-sea fishing, bungy jumping, and pleasure boat trips to Seal Island etc.

R 130-00 per person single, bedding & breakfast included.
R 60-00 per child under 12 sharing with the parents, bedding & breakfast included.
The breakfast included in your stay usually consists of coffee or tea, different cereals with milk, fruit juice and fruit salad or fresh fruit, and fresh bread or toast with butter, jam etc.
Full English breakfast or omelettes are also available on request.Groups qualify for even lower rates, but that depends on the size of the groups, time of the year etc.
Peak season is December/January, Easter and school holiday time, when different rates apply.
