If you are looking for some peace and relaxation then this is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Just a 30 min drive outside of Cape Town you will find Joostenbergvlakte nestled close to the mountains and winelands.
We welcome you into our home with its farm style kitchen, log fire, comfy beds and jolly company. While staying here you will be entertained, wined and dined and introduced to new friends. Take a walk around the farm yard and meet the friendly dogs and horses or go and pick your lunch in the organic veg garden. When horse feeding time comes you can lend a hand and learn their names. The next day wake up to the sounds of birds singing and horses calling for their breakfast.
If you're keen on helping - at Fat Pony there's always something to do or help out with.
Accommodation
We have double rooms en-suite, a dorm en-suite , spacious camping facilities and off road parking.
All linen is provided and there are heaters in the rooms. If you would like to book in a big group then just give us a call and we will let you know the layout.
ActivitiesHorse Riding - The Fat Pony has its very own riding school where you can spend a weekend or a month learning the ins and outs of horsiness. If have never ridden before, don't worry! You will be looked after by one of their super cute wonderful horses. If you do know how to ride but would like to improve your skills then have a chat to Lorna to learn all about tacking up, handling, grooming and feeding.
Mountain Biking - If you are not so much into horses but would still like to explore the surrounding countryside, climb on a bike and cycle through the vineyards and hills.Wine Tasting - Don't want to drive? No problem - combine the activities, grab a bike and go off to your wine tasting experience! Can't ride home any more? (Too much wine?) No problem! Give us a call and we will escort you home. :-) There are a million wine farms to choose from so just head out and explore.
Night Life - For night owls we recommend a trip to Stellenbosch to explore the local pubs and clubs. If you just want to spend some time at home then spend your evening relaxing with one of our top cape wines at the barbeque.
We will gladly assist with tour bookings and advise on local hot spots you may wish to visit.
