Who, why and where did the Hitchhikers Guide come from?
Technically it came from Douglas Adams and since he had the amazingly fantastic idea we decided to expand on it.
The Hitchhikers Guide (The Guide to Southern Africa) was born out of idea to share ideas and information about Southern Africa with you and the rest of the World.
A team of over 200 backpackers, reporters and friends have traveled around South Africa gathering information to compile this website and the location markers on Google Maps.
Two years have been spend on the project and eventually it was introduced to the BSA and backpackers at the Eastern Cape BSA meeting by Aidan from Wild Tongue Backpackers.
The project has been kept secret to maintain an accurate unbiased view of the Backpackers and Activities visited.
Our concept is simple, share information..
We do this through this very strange thing called the web.
Anyone and everyone has access to the Hitchhikers Guide to Southern Africa and the Galaxy.
We share with you because we love to.
The information comes from you, the traveler.
The more you have to say the more we will have to share with the world.
So the Guide is written by you, edited by a group of traveling backpackers and uploaded by a group of very dedicated Hitchhikers who live somewhere around the world.
We have three guidelines:
1 -::- Everything is written by you
2 -::- Everything is rated by you
3 -::- It is all about you
So now..
Started by Backpackers for Backpackers.
Concept developed in South Africa with help from the board, to create a free source of information for you to travel Southern Africa and hopefully the rest of the World and if you are happy with how this is all going we might even take it to the rest of the Galaxy.
